Nice article. It inspires me to write the following.

It seems to me a mistake to lay out a set of social results that are considered desirable and then advocate that government implement policies that are designed to achieve these results. (Is this what Pope Leo is saying?). After all governments have been trying to do this since Bismarck and maybe earlier and things just keep getting worse. (See Adam Smith’s discussion of the man of the system in Theory of Moral Sentiments.). But when people are convinced to voluntarily attempt to live according to the natural law(=Christian personal morality), we observe that the closer they come to achieving this, the better the aggregate outcome will be, at least among those living this way.
